Relationships, Sex, and The Self
I’m Kate and I am a trauma therapist specializing in relationships. I come to this work as a fellow traveler, meeting you where you are, moving at your pace, and holding the belief that the human condition is a shared experience. The counseling relationship, as I practice it, is collaborative at its core.
I both believe and believe in my clients.
I am not afraid of your pain. It is my role, and my commitment, to help you understand it, process it, and build from it, with compassion, integrity, and mutual respect.
My Approach
My work is rooted in somatic and systems theory, which means I pay close attention to how your lived experiences and relationships live not only in your mind, but in your body. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade as a bodywork practitioner, and that foundation shapes everything I do. I bring an understanding of the body's systems that is integral to the psychotherapeutic work, connecting physical experience with emotional pain and psychological distress.
This work is also informed by Organic Intimacy Theory, a framework I developed that understands intimacy as something that emerges organically through shared regulation, emotional safety, and attuned connection, between you and the people you connect with, and between your mind and your body.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Specialized Training
I am fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for individuals and couples, through an EMDRIA-approved program. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that supports processing of traumatic memories and experiences.
As a couples therapist, I am trained in Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a research-based approach that connects couples to practical, evidence-backed tools for building healthier relationships.
As a sex therapist and member of AASECT (American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists), I am trained to address the full range of sexual concerns, including sexual function and dysfunction, pleasure, identity, development across the lifespan, trauma, and sexuality across cultures and communities, including the LGBTQIA+ population.
I am also a medical plant advocate, meaning I offer psychoeducation and appropriate physician referral support for clients exploring plant-based approaches as part of their care.
My Community
I am a Louisiana native and have called Lafayette home for over 20 years. I am deeply committed to improving the mental health landscape in this community, offering therapeutic services for individuals, couples, and groups.
